Kentaro

Travel Consultant

Born in Obihiro City, a town located in the middle of Hokkaido. Due to his father’s job, he moved to Sapporo at the age of one, where he has lived for over 20 years. During his time at a local university, he studied abroad in Portland, Oregon, in the United States. By observing Hokkaido objectively, he reaffirmed the charm of Hokkaido’s cuisine. To convey this charm to many people, he worked as a food writer at a television station for about two years. He mainly covered restaurants in Sapporo and wrote articles. Afterwards, with a desire to make people aware of the attractions of Hokkaido beyond Sapporo, he joined Hokkaido Treasure Island Travel.

Not only meals but also encounters with people running restaurants and those cultivating ingredients are sure to be memorable. Hokkaido is a land you’ll want to visit again and again. Why not find the reason for yourself?

He spent two years as a gourmet writer for a website focused on sharing local Hokkaido information. During this time, he interviewed market vendors and chatted with owners of ramen and traditional Japanese diners popular among locals. He wrote articles summarizing the charm of these places. With a passion for food since his student days, he aimed to share the deliciousness of Hokkaido’s cuisine with everyone. That’s why he also shared restaurant recommendations on social media!
