We’re a family of 5 from Singapore, our children age 11 to 18, we love scenic holidays in nature. Our summer holiday in Hokkaido in June 2024 is by far the best holiday we’ve had in recent years. The turquoise lakes and the cool weather without bulky winter wear (less than 20degC). We did fly fishing in Akan and cycling in Furano. East Hokkaido Shiretoko had foxes and deer aplenty, we were lucky to see whole families of orcas (from alfa grandma to calves), and salmon jumping up a creek, and the forest walk despite the foggy weather was magical.

Holiday planning with local knowledge
Hokkaido Treasure Island’s Fumika-san was very patient and responsive from the start in answering my barrage of questions and confirming our itinerary (I’m a very meticulous holiday planner :p). Booking accommodation through apps is hard sometimes to get us 5 all in one room and she helped with her local contacts. Restaurants and food choices are few at the more remote nature places so she included (hearty) meals at the accommodation at reasonable prices.

Best of all she assigned Shu-san to drive us, his English was super fluent, he understood our needs and we loved his company.

Highly recommend considering Hokkaido in summer and partnering Hokkaido Treasure Island Fumika-san.
