A wonderful winter holiday!
From : Singapore

We had a most memorable winter holiday in Hokkaido in Dec 2018. Coming from the tropics, it was really refreshing to experience the cold weather and immerse ourselves in the snowscapes. We were a group of 11 (extended family with grandparents and young children), so one can imagine how challenging it would have been to put together a tour in Hokkaido all on our own, especially since we don’t speak Japanese. Thankfully, our travel consultant, Kaori-san, took care of all that. She was very efficient and professional – everything was arranged in no time, and she was always available when we needed clarifications. We had an English-speaking tour guide, Sonoko-san, who took good care of us throughout the trip and was very friendly.
Besides the popular attractions such as the Asahiyama Zoo, Hell Valley and Ice Village, we also did various fun and unique activities, including dog sledding, ice fishing and snow rafting. The kids also toasted marshmallows over an open fire while it snowed! The beautiful winter landscapes made braving the sub-zero temperatures worth it – in particular, the view at the Terrace of Frost Tree was almost magical.
Being Singaporeans, we also made sure to satisfy our food cravings in Hokkaido. The food choices recommended by Kaori-san did not disappoint – we had delicious crab dinner at Sekkatei, wagyu beef lunches at Loghouse Bibi and Shiraoiushi no Mise Iwasaki, fresh sushi at Hattazushi, among others. And not forgetting the special Christmas dinner at Auberge Tefutefu, a beautiful lodge at Biei owned by the famous photographer who does the Blue Pond lightups.
Overall, we enjoyed ourselves very much in Hokkaido. This is one of the holidays we will remember very fondly.
